An Equalities and Diversity Impact Assessment was carried out on our More Choice in Lettings Allocations Policy, between January 2004 and May 2005.

More Choice in Lettings reflects government policy to enable more tenant and applicant choice in social housing, as the previous allocations scheme involved very little choice.

The introduction of More Choice in Lettings also reflects our customer access plans in the Customer First Initiative. Customer First enables ease of customer access to information and advice through effective use of new technology. More Choice in Lettings would therefore contribute towards the e-government agenda.

Financial implications

Financial implications were met through the housing revenue account budget in 2004-2005 for the cost of establishing the system. Future budgets will include provision for running costs.
