Equalities and Diversity

The Disability Equality Scheme

The Disability Equality Scheme will tell you how we plan to ensure that disabled people have equal access to all Council services.

In line with the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 this is the first Disability Equality scheme to be produced by us. This scheme is part of the overarching Equalities and Diversity plan which sets out how we will eliminate unlawful discrimination and promote equal opportunities for all people regardless of impairment, culture, gender, faith or belief, age or sexuality.

The main aim of the Disability Equality Scheme is:

As an authority we welcome the challenges and new responsibilities placed on us to work towards equality for disabled people. Our partnership working will continue to grow in recognition of the need to actively involve disabled people in the design and delivery of our services.
