Employment is 1 of the 5 key areas of activity identified in our Corporate Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy Framework.
It is therefore essential that our equalities and diversity in employment practice remains in line with national and local developments and enables us to become a best practice organisation.
For employment this means that we must value the diversity that people bring to the organisation, and we must ensure that we give everybody equal opportunity to join us, train and develop with us, and reach their full potential with us.
To help us achieve this we have adopted a 5 Year Equalities and Diversity in Employment Strategy. The document details our strategic aims in equalities in employment and a challenging 5 year plan of action and continuous improvement for the council.
The Strategy sets out how we will be working to become a leading equal opportunities employer, which will not only benefit our staff, but also the wider community as it will help ensure that every member of staff understands the importance of respecting everyone's differences.
