Barking and Dagenham Energy Strategy

Aims to address CO2 emissions in the borough. It outlines policies and measures for encouraging energy-efficiency improvements across all these sectors. Everyone in the borough will need to play their role in improving energy efficiency including householders, businesses and us.

The borough's Sustainable Energy Strategy was published in October 2005. The Strategy's 8 key objectives are:

To reduce the borough's CO2 emissions through increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy
For us to lead by example in implementing best practice in sustainable energy throughout its activities
To improve the energy efficiency of all the borough's housing to the highest possible level
To increase business energy efficiency and renewable energy use across Barking and Dagenham
To reduce the growth in road traffic across the borough
To increase local power generation in Barking and Dagenham through renewable energy and combined heat and power
For the growth and regeneration of the borough over the coming decades to be low carbon
To promote the Sustainable Energy Strategy to all stakeholders and ensure the Strategy is implemented through all Council activities
