Adopted by us in August 2006, the Barking Town Centre Implementation Plan (
PDF 1.00M) sets out how the 32% reduction in carbon emissions from new developments will be delivered.
The 20 actions and over 50 tasks of the plan cover the technical design of the community heating network, the establishment of an Energy Services Company for its operation as well as work with partner organisations such as the Department of Communities and Local Government, the London Development Agency and the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation to secure the low carbon heat source for the network.
The Implementation Plan also highlights the importance of developers installing compatible communal heating systems and compatible electricity-generating renewable technologies in their building designs.
