Alley Gates

Frequently asked questions

How will I access my alleyway if a gate has been installed?

You will be given a key that will open the gate(s) to the alleyway that give you access to your garden.

Who will get a key?

Every home that has a right of access to that particular alleyway.

Will my key open every gate?

No, your key will only open the gate(s) to your alley.

What about the Fire Brigade, do they agree with these proposals?

Yes they do. They have agreed that they will use ladders to go over the gate if the situation is not life threatening. If it is then they will force the gate.

Can I lend my key to my window cleaner / builder / gardener as they need to gain access to my house via the alleyway?

It is okay to lend your key to a trades person that you know and trust but please do not give your key to anyone else.

I use the alleyway in the block opposite me, how will I gain access if I don't have a key?

Sorry. If that block agrees to gate its alleys then you will not be able to use it.
