Many people are finding it difficult to make ends meet. This can lead to money problems and debts.
Debt is nothing to be ashamed of, it is easy to take out loans or credit. What is not so easy is to pay them back.
We as a Council hear many stories of genuine hardship where people, through no fault of their own, face money problems. This can lead to all sorts of troubles such as homelessness, ill health or even court proceedings. People who find themselves in these circumstances need good legal advice and support.
To respond to this need the Barking and Dagenham Community Legal Services Partnership have produced the 'How to tackle debts' leaflet, which provides the early advice people need. The leaflet is written by trained and experienced lawyers, in a simple and easy to understand way. It sets out some simple steps to help manage debts.
Our partners at the Barking and Dagenham Citizen's Advice Bureau have usefully put together details of additional money sources, advice providers and contacts. Please call, or drop in at, the Barking Citizen's Advice Bureau on 020 8594 6715 if you need or would like more help or advice on debt or any other legal issues.
