The Role of our Access Officer

The Access Officer's tasks include:

Assessing and commenting on all planning applications submitted to the authority
Liaising with local voluntary groups who represent disabled people
Conducting access audits on council buildings, pedestrian areas and making recommendations for improvements
Increasing the awareness of the needs of local disabled people
Liaising with council services such as highways on issues such as safer street crossings and dropped kerbs
Advising businesses on how they can make their services more accessible
