Can I have home-to-school transport for my child?

Parents are usually responsible for arranging transport for their child to go to school. However, there are circumstances when we will provide transport for children. These are fully explained in the education transport policy.

We will usually provide transport for children who:

Go to a special school such as Trinity School in Dagenham
Need a special school outside the borough
Go to a special education provision within one of our mainstream schools instead of going to their local mainstream school
Have a long-term disability that prevents them being able to travel to school on their own
Have short-term difficulties because of an accident or illness; or
Have been taken into care by the local authority and need to continue going to their current school

If your child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs, is placed in a special school and needs transport, we will provide this automatically. If your child does not have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, you can apply direct.
