In 2007-2008 Barking and Dagenham Safeguarding Children Board conducted a Serious Case Review into the death of Child TB.
This conference is in response to the Serious Case Review recommendations, bringing together the stakeholders in the safeguarding field as a crucial part of the safeguarding agenda. Take this opportunity to engage with other stakeholders across the workforce and find out more about specific issues important to your role and your organisation.
The plenary sessions will include a presentation by the authors of the Serious Case Review report, keynote speakers from Dost* and Operation Paladin**.
Hear the views of children and young people on safeguarding and bullying and take part in the launch of posters designed by children and young people to raise public awareness of Child Protection.
Stream sessions will focus on current issues including safer recruitment, allegations against staff, domestic violence, bullying and mental health.
Professionals who have contact with children and their families in the course of the day-to-day work, their managers and critical decision makers.
The programme may be subject to change. Delegates will be provided with full details prior to the conference date.
* (Dost means 'friend' in Armenian, Hindi, Turkish, Urdu) Project Dost was established to support young refugees/asylum seekers; its programmes prioritise those who have arrived in the UK without family.
