The Early Intervention Service

What happens next?

When a School and its Educational Psychologist consider that support from The Early Intervention Service is the next most appropriate form of help for a child, and they consider that their pupil meets the criteria they will approach parents/carers and:

Talk about the service offered from 'The Acorns' and provide a short leaflet describing the help provided, which is available in all Schools
Arrange a meeting in the school with the Head Teacher or Special Educational Needs Coordinator to introduce them to either the Head or Deputy Head Teacher of the Early Intervention Service
Encourage a visit to one of The Acorns Centres for the parents/carers to see for themselves what is on offer and to meet the team

If there is satisfaction with what has been seen, and parents/carers are willing to meet regularly with the Service's Family Therapist to think about ways of bringing about the positive changes they want to see, then a formal referral is made by the School to the Early Intervention Service.
