Playworkers organise a range of fun learning activities for children of school age (usually 3-14 years old) before and after school, and sometimes during school holidays.
Experience of looking after young children in your own family or friends' families is useful, but not essential. You need to be enthusiastic, energetic, and patient - and to enjoy helping children to learn and play.
Although settings sometimes advertise for unqualified staff, at least 50% of playworkers in out of school settings for children under 8 must be qualified. The main qualification accepted for work in pre-schools and playgroups are:
