A career working with children can be satisfying and very rewarding. It offers variety and fun, flexibility to fit into your family life and will earn your respect. Most of all it is an opportunity to make a real difference to a child's life that will last as they approach their adult years.
You do not have to be a woman or a member of any particular ethnic group to work successfully with children. Disabilities need not necessarily be a barrier to working with children. As a local authority we celebrate diversity at all levels and this includes working in childcare.
In Barking and Dagenham we are looking to open new day nurseries and out of school clubs. We will need to recruit staff to work in these settings and of course there is always a need for for playworkers and childminders.
Please be aware that we are in the process of updating a large amount of childcare information on our website and that not all the links are working yet. If you experience trouble finding the information you require please contact Barking and Dagenham Direct.
