The Community Educational Psychology Service works with young children and their families, Early Years and Childcare providers and other Professionals to promote positive progress through early identification of additional needs, planning interventions and supporting transition into school.
The service works with pre-school children and their families following a notification from the Health service or request for consultation from Early Year's providers or other services involved with the child. Any direct family work carried out is case related.
Psychologists work closely with other Early Year's services for example Early Years and Childcare which includes Portage and Early Support and Educational Advisory Services for children who have a hearing or visual loss.
Psychologists also link with Professionals in Health including the Child Development Team, Speech and Language Therapy Service, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Social Care and Voluntary agencies, to promote collaborative work.
