Toddler Talk

This is a drop-in group for parents and carers with children aged up to 5 years, where the emphasis is on interaction and language skills. Admission is on a 'first come first serve' basis, in which only the first 15 children are admitted. It is recommended that you arrive early as it does get very busy.

Baby Massage

This a 5 week course that is suitable for babies from birth and before they can crawl. It can help with a variety of things, including baby's sleep and digestion. Please contact us to book a place.

Play and Language Workshops

These are a series of workshops running over 4 weeks. The workshops look at supporting children's language development. Places must be booked in advance.

Little Rhyme Makers

This is a drop-in session for parents and carers with children up to 5 years. The focus here is on learning songs, actions and playing musical instruments, which encourages children to learn new words and develop listening and turn-taking skills.

 

This is a fun and important way to help your child's learning and language. Admission is on a 'first come first serve' basis. It is recommended that you arrive early as it does get very busy.

Incredible Years Parenting Programme

This 12 week course is open to all parents and carers of children up to 5 years. It allows small groups of parents and carers to learn new skills, helping you cope with your child's behaviour and to build positive parent-child relationships.

 

You can share experiences, learn from each other and give each other support. The course helps to build your confidence and self-esteem in a relaxed, non-threatening environment. Places must be booked to join at the beginning of the course and a certificate is awarded upon completion. Crèche facilities are available.

Sports fit

A service for all the family. Join in sports activities and improve your football skills. Then join us for pre-match lunch. This service is in partnership with the sports development team and Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.

 

Date: Every other Saturday

Community Toy Chest

Drop-in, stay, play and borrow from a large selection of toys. With advice on how to get the best out of each toy available. The toy library is £1 to join and borrowing is 50p.

 

Date: Every Friday

Time: 10am - 12pm

Venue: John Perry Children's Centre

Cost: £1 to join and then 50p every time you borrow a toy to take home.

 

Babbling Babes

This drop-in session is for parents and carers with babies aged 0 to 12 months. The group encourages you and your baby to play, learn, explore, communicate and develop together, whilst making friends at the same time.

Structured home visiting support

The family support team can provide practical and emotional support to parents and carers. This can range from advice on managing budgets to establishing positive routines and managing challenging behaviour. Clients are usually referred by agencies or can also refer themselves for this service.

 

Home visits are made by appointment or you can drop-in to meet with a member of the family support team at the Children's Centre. It is advisable, however, to telephone in advance as staff may not be available.

 

Date: Daily

Time: 9am - 5pm, although these times are flexible

Antenatal Sessions

A midwife led clinic carrying out antenatal checks to monitor your health during pregnancy as well as the health and development of your baby. Please telephone to book an appointment.

Parent Craft

Classes with a midwife and children centre staff giving information and support for both before and after the birth of your child.

Health Concern Drop In

A personal advisor from Health Concern will meet you to develop a healthy lifestyle support plan which will include nutrition, smoking cessation, keep fit and losing weight.

Child Health Clinic

Drop in clinic run by Health Visitors, who can give support and advice on your child's development.
