Support for individuals

 

The regeneration of Barking and Dagenham will create thousands of extra jobs in the borough. We want to make sure that local people have access to training opportunities that provide the right skills and qualifications that mean they can access these jobs, as well as those arising through the wider re-development of the Thames Gateway.

 

We are working with our partners to support skills development for key sectors of the local economy, including construction, health, social care and the public services, cultural and creative services, retail and manufacturing.

 

Key issues for us in supporting local people into work are:

Agencies that provide a range of assistance for adults

Includes employment, training (including CV presentation), job search and applications, and interview skills.

 

Barking Job Shop|

Barking Job Shop provides a job brokerage service, supporting you with all aspects of finding work, including advice on CVs, help to complete council and other application forms and interview technique guidance. Barking and Dagenham Training Services|

Barking and Dagenham Training Services offer work based learning programmes to people (including Modern Apprenticeships) between the ages of 16 and 25 years.

 

Connexions Careers Management Future|

Connexions Careers Management Future provides free careers advice to all ages.

 

Gateway to Health and Social Care|

Gateway to Health and Social Care project offers careers advice, help in sourcing jobs vacancies in the Health and Social Care sector.

 

Job Centre Plus|

Job Centre Plus is responsible for all benefits paid to people of working age, providing assistance and support in securing employment.

 

Next Step London East|

Next Step London East provides free information on learning, training courses and jobs for people aged 20, with few qualifications (i.e. less than 5 GCSEs or an NVQ Level 2) living, working or studying in Newham, Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge or Tower Hamlets.

 

Welfare to Work for Disabled People|

Welfare to Work for Disabled People provides a range of services to assist disabled people into work.

 

Online learning centres

A network of online learning centres that provide access to a range of e-learning opportunities.

 

Learn direct|

Training by e-learning courses.

 

Advice on the full range of early education, childcare and children's services

For children aged 0-16, their families, carers and professionals.
