Job Centre Plus

Job Centre Plus was established in April 2002. It is an agency of the Department for Work and Pensions.

Job Centre Plus is responsible for all benefits paid to people of working age - including Job Seekers Allowance and Incapacity Benefit. It is the key provider of services to unemployed people through a range of New Deal initiatives.

The aims of Job Centre Plus include the following:

Individual Customers

Job Centre Plus aim to assist customers by:

Promoting work as the best form of welfare for people of working age
Providing suitable assistance and support to Job Centre Plus customers facing the greatest barriers to work
Providing services in offices accessible to those customers with disabilities or sensory impairments
Continual work with Job Centre Plus partners to provide customers with access to and additional sources of help e.g. housing benefit, tax credits, child support and local health/Adult and Community Services provision

Employers

Job Centre Plus aim to assist employers by:

Tailoring services to meet the needs of employers and support the welfare to work agenda
Increase work with declining sectors
Provide employers with an effective aftercare service to assist keeping people in employment
