The Freedom of Information Act is part of a wider government objective to make public decision making open and accountable. Individuals and organisations can be provided with a copy of any information held by us unless one of the exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act applies.
It gives the public the 'right to know' unless there are good reasons why this is withdrawn. Note that the right of access is to information documents. We must be prepared to release those parts of a document that are not covered by an exemption.
A complete list of exemptions can be found in the Act itself on the Department of Constitutional Affairs website.
The Guidance for Tenderers and Officers is intended to give general guidance in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Procurement.
