Work Related Learning became a key part of the curriculum from September 2004 for all young learners studying Key Stage 4. All secondary schools have developed a Work Related Learning policy to meet this challenge. They are supported by the following borough services:
Trident provides 2 week work experience opportunities for most of the borough's Year 10 or Year 11 students using an innovative diary which has been adopted nationally. It maintains links with hundreds of employers.
Education Business Partnership has established a reputation in east London in supporting local schools - both Primary and Secondary. It arranges industrial visits and can provide speakers. It runs mentoring schemes and fosters interest in business through sponsored competitions.
Flexi-Learning Service provides an exciting opportunity for selected young people in Year 10 and Year 11 to pursue a mixed curriculum of school subjects, vocational training and extended work placements.
