Barking and Dagenham Training Services

Barking and Dagenham Training Services offers vocational, work-based learning programmes to young people aged 16 and over. We are funded by the Learning and Skills Council London East.

We offer Apprenticeships and Entry to Employment (E2E) programmes.

Apprenticeships are offered in:

The apprenticeship programmes are a mixture of vocational training with an employer and day release. The apprentice works towards an apprenticeship framework consisting of a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), technical certificate and key skills at the level relevant to their job role. Most apprenticeships are employed.

The E2E programme is aimed at young people aged 16-18 who are not ready to directly enter employment, further education or an apprenticeship. Our programme is designed to support the young person and give opportunities for them to develop their skills so that they can secure employment or further training.

Financial support

All e2e learners aged 16 to 18 are eligible for a weekly Educational Maintenance Allowance of £30. Any non employed apprentices aged 16 to 18 may be able to apply for an Educational Maintenance Allowance but this will be means tested based on the household income. Education Maintenance Allowance. The employers set the salary for each employed apprentice they recruit.
