Out of School Hours Learning

Out of School Hours Learning (sometimes also known as Study Support) refers to any structured voluntary learning activity that takes place outside of normal 'timetabled' school hours.

Therefore, Out of School Hours Learning not only refers to any after-school club, but may also include activities that take place before school, such as breakfast clubs, as well as lunchtime clubs, activities and events.

For the academic year 2008-2009, Out of School Hours Learning in Barking and Dagenham secondary schools is being directly supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation.

This is the 4th successive year that secondary schools have received this funding, allowing them to develop a range of innovative, high quality and worthwhile Out of School Hours Learning activities for the benefit of the young people of Barking and Dagenham.

A list of schools involved in the project, together with a summary of their main Out of School Learning activities for 2008-2009, is set out below. Please note that, currently, activities are only open to young people from the school where the activity is based.
