The Education Business Partnership is a small unit which operates as part of the borough's Skills, Learning and Enterprise Division. It provides schools and other educational institutions in the borough with an interface between the local business community.
To achieve this, the Education Business Partnership has developed a range of activities to enhance the delivery of the national curriculum, develop personal and key skills and provide preparation for working life.
The Education Business Partnership works across a range of age groups from primary to post-16.
In the primary sector The Education Business Partnership focus on the curriculum with delivery taking place on school premises.
Within the secondary and post-16 sector Education Business Partnership work focuses on the curriculum, with support for the development of vocational education and the enhancement of employability skills.
It also offers support for teachers by means of business focused professional development placements.
Barking and Dagenham Education Business Partnership is a partner in the Be London East Consortium. This consortium comprises of 10 London East Education Business Partnerships and other business link partners.
The consortium aims to bring together education and business, for the benefit of young people in London East, in order to improve employment prospects and educational attainment of young people in the local community.
Be draws down funding from the Learning and Skills Council.
Barking and Dagenham is also a member of the National Education Business Partnership network.
