Valence House Museum

Loans, donations and bequests

Loans

It is possible for an organisation to request for a museum object or archive to be loaned for display in an exhibition or other such activity.

However, as our collections are very valuable we have strict conditions that need to be adhered to by the lending body which include environmental and security measures.

If you are interested in loaning one of our objects or archives for a specific purpose, please email leeanne.westwood@lbbd.gov.uk for museum objects or tahlia.coombs@lbbd.gov.uk for archives.

Donations and bequests

Valence House Museum, the borough Archive and the Local Studies Library have rich and diverse collections of objects, archives and printed material related to the Barking and Dagenham region.

We are always looking to increase this collection with new material relevant to the history of borough.

If you believe you have an item that may be of interest to us please email the details to leeanne.westwood@lbbd.gov.uk for museum objects or tahlia.coombs@lbbd.gov.uk for archives.

In the first instance staff will evaluate whether the proposed item is relevant to our collections and then a visit would be organised.
