Still More of Mr Frogley's Barking - A 3rd selection

Tony Clifford, Herbert Hope Lockwood

2004

£8

Still More of Mr Frogley's Barking is the 3rd in a series of selections from an unpublished history of Barking written by William Holmes Frogley, the son of a Barking fisherman.

The accompanying illustrations are reproduced in full colour, along with some additional pictures. Tony Clifford has transcribed and annotated the text, with considerable help from Bert Lockwood in the footnotes.

This final selection concentrates on Frogley's account of St Margaret's Church, the monuments within it, and accounts of some of the vicars and curates. Frogley recounts the history of various local estates, including some in the Ilford area. His account of the School Board gives us an insight into education in Barking 100 years ago.

This publication will interest the general reader and the local and family historian.
