If you are interested in Barking and Dagenham's history, or are tracing your family tree, we have a wide variety of material to assist your research.
When visiting for the first time, please bring proof of your address as you will need to register.
Our local history collection includes books, maps, photographs, local newspapers, electoral registers and trade directories.

Archive materials, for example rate books, school logbooks, property deeds and business records, are kept off-site and an appointment is necessary to view them.
