19th Century archives

Beacontree Heath Infants School Log Book, used between 1890 and 1933, is a typical example of 19th century administrative records. The volume was pre-printed with page numbers and included index pages at the front (in this instance not used). It was hard-backed with a maroon leather spine.

The book is open at June 1894 and shows that many children were away from school as they had had to go pea-picking.
