Digitise - Video Film Production training and Digital Music Production training.
Digitise was launched in summer 2002 when our Arts Programme and Cultural Development was one of the only London borough's to secure £40,000 of funding from the London Arts Creative Neighbourhoods Fund, with match funding from our arts and youth support and development service.
The project has been drawn up as part of the Arts Development and Youth Service programme to provide creative activity and training opportunities that encourage progression into the creative industries for young people in the borough of Barking and Dagenham.
Young people have the opportunity to learn and practice film production, drama, music production, scriptwriting, directing and multi-media design.
The project is part of the Arts Development and Youth Service programme to provide creative activity for young people in the borough.
The project is based at The Vibe set in the Becontree area of the borough and forms part of the groundwork and first year development for providing film production, sound design and multi-media training for young people at risk.
This development complements the borough's existing commitment to developing the Creative Industries.
The project aims to minimize the risks of exclusion and disaffection that young people encounter and the first phase of the project concentrates on work with the unaccompanied Eastern European young asylum seekers in Barking and Dagenham.
The first phase of the project saw the production of a film for London Weekend's Television 'Whose London' project. The film production was coordinated and managed by Lynda Agard from Studio 3 Arts and Bhavesh Hindocha from Load Minority Digital Media Production Company.
The Digitise project will develop into a programme that fulfils the overall strategy to address access and will integrate other groups considered at risk in the borough and will result in a core group that wants to continue the project.
