Local Cultural Strategy - Summary

 

This is a summary of the borough's Local Cultural Strategy, our vision for Culture in Barking and Dagenham.

 

Consultation

155 individuals, groups and organisations were contacted and asked to comment on the Strategy.

 

Copies were placed in local libraries and on our website.

 

In addition, information gained from earlier consultations was used to inform the priorities and key actions.

 

What the consultation told us

 

The key issues for the development of culture and cultural activity in Barking and Dagenham are

People's top priorities to improve cultural provision in the borough.

In 5 years time the cultural facilities that people would like to see in the borough.

The responses clearly correspond with results of other consultation exercises, such as those for the Arts strategy, Heritage strategy and Parks and Green Spaces strategy.

 

They tell us that residents in the borough are concerned with their cultural heritage and access to arts, historical and leisure facilities.
