The Community Music Service vision is to 'Provide opportunities for every young person to develop through music and positively impact on the 5 outcomes of Every Child Matters'.
We support the Music Manifesto and the Federation of Music Services in affirming Every Child's Music Matters.
We endorse the statements in the new National Curriculum Key Stage 3 document (Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency) which recognises that music is a powerful and unique form of communication. It can change the way people feel think and act.
It brings together intellect, feeling and enables personal expression, reflection and emotional development. As an integral part of culture, past and present, it helps pupils understand themselves and relate to others, forging important links between, home school and the wider world.
The teaching and learning of music develops pupils' ability to listen, appreciate and the active involvement both individually and communally develops a sense of group identity and togetherness.
Music increases self discipline, creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfilment.
