Providing Music in the Community

 

The Community Music Service aims to support the musical engagement and development of children, young people and adults in Barking and Dagenham through a wider range of musical programmes.

 

We provide a range of programmes through which musical instruments are taught and supported.

Instrumental and vocal lessons|

Instrumental lessons provided by our peripatetic music team in schools via small groups, pair and individual lessons.

 

Wider Opportunities at Key Stage 2|

Learning an instrument through whole class music lessons in schools at Key Stage 2.

 

Music Schools|

Instrumental lessons and other music activities which take place on Saturdays.

 

Additional Music Centre classes|

Keyboard and guitar classes for Years 3-13 (age 7-18 years) are offered at the Music Centre.

 

Summer School|

Music courses during the Summer holidays.

 

Music Groups|

A wider range of ensembles, bands and orchestras are provided to support instrumental learning.

 

In addition to these instrumental programmes we also organise other music events, programmes and courses to encourage, motivate and strengthen musical involvement and development.

 

Musical Events and projects|

These include workshops, residencies and concerts (vocal and instrumental) in schools and other venues in the borough.
