The Broadway contains The Dudley Moore Theatre, a new auditorium with galleries and seating for 341. The seating is retractable and adaptable to create a much larger standing capacity of 600, providing opportunities for a stage or flat performance area.
This lends itself to a mixed programme that could encompass music, concerts, family-friendly performances, contemporary dance and live arts installation as well as traditional drama and touring theatre.
There are new backstage facilities, complete with scenery production storage and rehearsal rooms, plus technical service areas that are completely accessible for disabled employees and customers.
A brand new box office, bar and foyer area awaits theatregoers which can also be used for small performances, presentations and events.
The basement houses a large education suite of dance, music, stage craft, recording, drama and technology rooms, fully equipped for the task of housing Barking College School of Performing Arts, a school that is gaining in reputation through providing high quality access level courses in performing arts.
Its new accommodation enables the College to increase its capacity and the course provision to include stage management, lighting and stage design, as well as technical and theatre management.
The theatre has a family friendly and artistically distinctive programme for residents and visitors to the borough. It is also available for hire to arts and community groups and for other functions.
The Broadway Trust, which has registered Charitable Status, comprises The Broadway's staff and Board Members. It oversees the management of the venue and supports the staff in securing its position as a high quality performing arts venue.
