The A13 Artscape scheme included the building of a new subway at this junction and this may still prove to be possible.
The future of the junction at Renwick Road is still in question, due to its need to accommodate new housing and subsequently an increase in use on the south side of the road.
However, until the needs and design of the overall junction are resolved we cannot take this proposal forward.
A pre-cast extruded and distorted concrete souterrain section is laid beneath the motorway, the surface of the concrete is treated with photographic retardant to produce a repeated landscape image in relief on all surfaces.
The south facing retaining walls, clad with pre-cast interlocking relief bark motifs are planted with sweet smelling ivies and retain a crumpled landscape.
All pedestrian and cyclist circulation through the park and subway is on green white and gold tarmac.
All overhead lighting is bespoke 'idest' galvanized rolled units.
Status: under review pending decisions about works to junction to accommodate increased residential units to south of A13.
