Hedgefields is the largest of Tom de Paor's landscapes that begin to realise the 'green geometry' of his vision for 'Arterial'.
It is a field of hedges, of alternate copper and silver beech, running parallel to the A13 and spreading out to meet the twin cone roundabouts at the Goresbrook Interchange.
The field will grow to and be maintained at a 2 metre box and includes the shared cycle and footpaths that have been consistently installed along the project and the custom made lights that Tom also designed, 'Idest'.
A striped plate landscape. Across this hedgerows run in one direction oriented tangential to the road curvature for maximum optical effect to the motorist.
The hedges are of 2 species of beech (copper and orange) 2 metres high, double planted 2 metres thick to be maintained at 4 metre intervals cut at 45 degrees.
Within the planting, poly carbonate tube lighting is carried on a stainless steel rail system slowly consumed as linear foliage lanterns at nightfall.
All pedestrian and cyclist circulation through the park is on green white and gold tarmac.
All overhead lighting is bespoke 'idest' galvanized rolled units.
