This project was not realised due to the relocation of Jo Richardson Community School.
An existing flat landscape is bisected by one straight path 1 kilometre in length, extending one axis of Holding Pattern eastwards and the pedestrian/cyclist away from the road, bounded to the north by the existing playing fields, a 3 metre wide zone of playground and the edge of the Becontree Estate.
A helix pergola unfurls along this walk periodically. Between the walk and the A13 a thick grid forest of 531 trees is planted in a 5/2 rhythm of alternating Tilia Cordata 'greenspire' and Matasegoia to enclose the green and form a living acoustic barrier.
This plantation is the axis of the avenue expanded into a 3 dimensional arboreal object.
All pedestrian and cyclist circulation through the park is on green white and gold tarmac. All overhead lighting is bespoke 'idest' galvanized rolled units.
