Talented athletes of Barking and Dagenham

In Barking and Dagenham we are proud to support a number of talented athletes, some of whom are World and European Champions.

They each spend many hours travelling around Great Britain and Europe competing in high level competitions, representing both their country and the borough.

It is hoped that some, if not all of them, will achieve the standard required to compete in the London 2012 Olympics.

The borough is helping these athletes achieve their hopes and dreams by providing them with free access to gyms and swims through our Free Access for National Sportspeople (FANS) scheme, which will enable them to train, at no cost, in several leisure centres across the borough.

Living the Dream is a trust set up by the borough which will also assist and support these athletes through to 2012 by looking for sponsorship and training opportunities and promoting each athlete in their chosen field of sport.
