Lucy Sargent - Athletics Sprint

Lucy currently studying Economics in her first year at Brunel University.

Lucy trains at the university itself, at Lee Valley Athletics centre and at Havering Mayesbrook during the holidays.

Lucy is now coached by Trevor Marsay who is based in Birmingham and her mum, so occasionally has to drive to see him and he attends some of her training sessions.

She has just returned from warm weather training in Spain. She went for a week and it was very worth while.

Lucy recently competed indoors at a university match, competing against the best sport universities in the UK. Competing in the 60m and relay (2nd in 60m and 1st in 4x200 relay).

Lucy also competed at the Essex Indoor Champs, coming 1st in the long jump. This winter she has started to train for the long jump and hurdles, as she enjoys these 2 events. However her main events are still the sprints.

Lucy will be competing in the British University champs and Essex champs at the beginning of the season, she will also do the South of England's and Nationals as well as competing for Havering Mayesbrook in league matches. Her aim this year is to compete for England in a senior match in Bratislava.

As this is Lucy's first year as a senior, she is hoping the transition from junior to senior competitions goes smoothly!. Next year Lucy hope's to qualify for the European Under 23 championships.

Lucy also has a part time job in London as University is so expensive.
