Haiti earthquake appeal - please donate now.
The 7.0 magnitude quake, which hit the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince on 12 January, is the worst earthquake to have hit the country in 200 years.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) have launched a high profile appeal in response to the devastating earthquake and urgently need your help.
The DEC is an umbrella body for 13 of the largest UK based humanitarian organisations, including the British Red Cross, Oxfam and Save the Children.
If you would like to help to provide food, shelter and aid to victims please visit the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal online form or contact 0370 6060 900.
Local government is already involved in the disaster response activities. On 13 January the Department for International Development coordinated the despatch of 64 search and rescue experts from fire services across England and Wales in line with well-established disaster response arrangements.
This group included volunteers from fire and rescue services in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, West Sussex, Kent, the West Midlands, Lincolnshire, Hampshire, and mid and west Wales.
