Dagenham boxer and former council worker Kevin Mitchell is celebrating after lifting the British super-featherweight title at London's O2 centre last weekend.
Kevin, 23, who is known as 'The Dagenham Destroyer', beat Carl Johanneson on a 9th-round stoppage. It was his 26th straight professional win, including 19 inside the distance.
Kevin now holds both the British and Commonwealth belts, and is on course to realise his world title dream.
Before turning pro, he worked as a lifeguard at Goresbrook Leisure Centre, where he also fought some of his early bouts.
So congratulations to Kevin - and watch this space for more news of the borough's new boxing sensation.
