Elizabethans undressed at Eastbury Manor

Saturday 5 April 2008, 10am - 4pm

Come along to Eastbury Manor House on Saturday and see 'Elizabethans Undressed'.

In the space of 1 day, you can go back more than 400 years to find out exactly what was in the wardrobes of our ancestors.

The event takes place on Saturday 5 April 2008, starting at 10am, and there's fun for all the family.

You will be able to learn all about Elizabethan clothing, including lords', ladies' and peasant costumes - as well as the corset in the picture.

You can also learn the origins of such humorously named garments as the 'bum roll' and 'farthing gown'.

There's a talk at 11.30am, repeated at 2.15pm, while staff dressed in 16th century costumes will give guided tours of the house until 3pm.

Admission is £2.50 for adults and 65p for children, and the fun and frolics continue until 4pm.

For further information, contact the Events and Marketing Officer on 020 8724 1002 or email eastburyhouse@lbbd.gov.uk.
