Footballer Jon Nurse is swapping Dagenham for Dominica after an historic international call-up.
Dagenham and Redbridge star Jon usually turns out at the Council-sponsored London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium. But this week he's in the Barbados squad to face Dominica in a qualifier for the 2010 World Cup.
It's an historic occasion for the club as Jon is the first Dagger to be picked for a full international squad.
Barbados are hoping to follow 2 other Caribbean countries, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, by qualifying for the finals for the first time.
Their campaign to reach the 2010 finals in South Africa starts on Wednesday, with the return on 26 March 2008.
If Barbados get through, they face the United States of America, who qualified for the past 3 World Cups and reached the last 8 in 2002.
But with footballers being known for 'taking each game as it comes', we are sure Jon will be looking no further than next Saturday's trip to Hereford!.
Tuesday 5 February 2008.
