Birkbeck Stratford's next Open Evening is on Wednesday 11 June 2008 at Old Town Hall Stratford, from 4pm - 7.30pm.
The University attracts students from all over east London, including Barking and Dagenham.
Staff will be there to talk about courses on offer and advise how to apply. There will also be details of financial aid and disability support. For the first time, taster sessions in Sociology, Politics and Counselling will give prospective students experience of university lectures.
All courses are part-time in the evening, so students do not have to give up work and get into debt. Courses include Foundation Degrees in Information Technology, Management and Public Sector Management. Also on offer for 2008-2009 are Certificates in Journalism, Economics, Mathematical Studies, Sociology and Politics.
The Introduction to Higher Education Certificate is designed to support people going into higher education for the first time, or coming back after a long time away. Also new for 2008 is the Mini-MBA, a 4-week course to introduce students to the major skills and knowledge needed in management.
Birkbeck also offers a range of courses for the Community and Voluntary sector, as well as English Language courses for non-native speakers.
Non-repayable bursaries of up to £1,000 are available to undergraduates and postgraduates to cover course fees and the cost of books, travel and childcare.
You can book for the Open Evening online or by calling 0845 602 4169.
Friday 6 June 2008.
