Head Teacher: Paul Grant MA BA
Open Evening was on Thursday 2 October 2008, 6pm - 9pm
Robert Clack is a mixed comprehensive school for 11-19 year olds with around 1,700 students, including a thriving and successful sixth form of nearly 300.
The school is on 2 sites, which allows us to offer year 7 pupils a warm and welcoming environment on the Green Lane site (this site serves pupils in years 7-9).
Parents always comment favourably on the educational advantages that this arrangement offers by allowing children to move smoothly between the different Key Stages. The Gosfield Road site is where the older students are based, including the sixth form.
To achieve the very highest standards we expect of our students, we are totally committed to helping every student fulfil their potential. Our motto of 'Forti Difficile Nihil' ('For the brave, nothing is difficult') supports our commitment to work with all members of the school community to make sure that all students achieve only the very best.
The school prides itself on its calm and ordered learning environment built on the traditional values of respect, hard work and discipline.
'This is an outstanding school. Students enter the school with standards that are broadly average; they make outstanding progress to achieve substantially higher than average results in national examinations in Year 9 and at GCSE. The school strives and is ambitious for students' success.' - Ofsted 2007
The curriculum is outstanding and meets the needs of students extremely well. A wide range of vocational courses and work-related opportunities at Key Stage 4 offer helpful pathways into training and employment. Provision for personal, health, social and citizenship education is excellent and supports students' personal development successfully as well as providing exciting opportunities for developing enterprise and work-related skills.'- Ofsted 2007
In January 2005, Sir Clive Woodward opened the new multi-million pound sports complex on the Gosfield Road site. This facility, used by both our students and the wider community, is made up of:
In October 2006, we opened the new £1.6 million state of the art science block on the upper school site. Among the facilities are 6 fully equipped labs.
Each lab includes a projector, a display screen with sound, a visualiser (a camera for displaying pupil's work on screen), air conditioning, 4 PCs and all essential lab equipment and storage space. There is also a big plasma screen in the entrance lobby, which we can use to display pupil's work, notices, news stories and photos.
We have invested invested heavily in information technology resources. The whole school is fully networked and continually updated to keep up with changes in technology. In the last 2 years, English, maths, science and ICT have benefited enormously with the introduction of interactive technologies and active slates (electronic writing pads with interactive technology).
Ongoing developments in information and communications technology (ICT) across the curriculum will make sure that our students are taught in a modern learning environment and have access to high-quality equipment and software.
We are totally committed to building on our current success to make sure that everyone achieves their full potential. We look forward to welcoming you at our open evening.
