Admissions to Schools

Barking and Dagenham

 

If your child is between the age of 4 and 16 and you would like them child to attend a school in Barking and Dagenham, the Admissions and Attendance Team will process your application. The forms you complete will depend on your child's date of birth and circumstances.

 

Reception Admission|

If your child was born between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005, they may start school in September 2009. This is not an automatic process even if your child is attending a nursery and you will need to apply for a place at our infant or primary schools.

 

Please read the 'The Road to Learning web pages' before you apply. The closing date for 2009 Reception entry applications was Friday 30 January 2009 and you could have applied online.

 

Moving from Primary to Secondary School|

If your child was born between 1 September 1997 and 31 August 1998 they will be transferring to a secondary school in September 2009. This move is not an automatic process and you will need to apply for a place at the secondary schools you would like your child to go to.

 

Please read the 'The Right Secondary School web pages' before you apply. The closing date for all applications was Friday 24 October 2008. If you apply after this date, you will need to follow the casual admissions process.

 

Casual Admissions (All Other Admissions)|

For all other year groups, you will need to come into the Barking Learning Centre, 2 Town Square, Barking to apply. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm and Saturday, 9am - 1pm.

 

Exclusions

Our exclusions officer offers advice and guidance to parents on fixed term and permanent exclusions. You may also find it useful to speak on this subject with the Advisory Centre for Education or the Parents in Partnership Service.
