Who can use our centres?
Overall
Our centres have many computers, black and white and colour printers, scanners, large screen projection facilities and other state of the art IT equipment. These can be used and in some cases hired by local businesses, community groups and schools when they book to use our centres for various projects or general sessions.
Local businesses and community groups
We have a role in helping to develop ICT in the community as well as within schools. Our centres host many training sessions for those that work within different sectors within Barking and Dagenham as well as various local youth groups, workshops and community groups.
Groups can hire rooms to undertake individual 'one-off' sessions or reoccurring sessions. Community groups can also benefit from having help from our learning facilitators to deliver and/or plan their sessions.
To hold groups, run a course or even just a 'one-off' session at our centres all that is required is completion of an application form (
PDF 71K), a policy document ( PDF 124K) and acceptance of our terms and conditions. When these are received by our panel, if successful, an induction session at the centre will be arranged for the group leaders (if required) and sessions can be booked.
Local schools
Our work with local schools over the years has been very successful to date. Individual classes from local schools can hire rooms free of charge to undertake lessons or special 'project related' sessions.
These sessions can be delivered by the teacher or can be delivered by one of our dedicated learning facilitators. Students can undertake a full day of fun but educational computer related activities, which all relate to the national curriculum, at either of our centres.
