Introduction
City Learning Centres are an element of the government's strategy to raise attainment in Inner City areas by using Information Communication Technology (ICT) to develop new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
The City Learning Centres at Eastbrook and Green Lane are part of the Excellence in Cities initiative and support the National Key Stage 3 Strategy. The National Key Stage 3 Strategy supports all strands of Mathematics, Literacy, Science and ICT. Our centres enable access to ICT facilities for all curriculum subjects and subjects of interest to the local community.
Both of our centres provide a number of varied learning environments all supported by modern technologies. These range from a traditional classroom with a state of the art large screen display and image capturing equipment to individual student study areas providing high speed internet access, specialist hardware and software.
Both centres offer new opportunities in terms of both teaching and learning. The usage made of our Centres and our resources is aimed at expanding, developing and providing new opportunities in addition to those activities already taking place in our schools and local communities.
Local businesses, community groups and schools are welcome to hold groups, run a course or even just a 'one-off' session at our Centres. All that is required is completion of an application form (
PDF 71K), a policy document ( PDF 124K) and acceptance of our terms and conditions.
When these are received by our panel, if successful, an induction session at the centre will be arranged for the Group Leaders (if required) and sessions can be booked.
